The Reel Insider series presents

FISH TANK

Purchase individual tickets or purchase a subscription!

The  third season of the series launches on Thursday, January 7th with FISH TANK.  Winner of the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize, the film is an emotionally stunning coming-of-age story, electrified by the breakthrough performance of its young star Katie Jarvis. Fifteen-year-old Mia (Katie Jarvis) is in a constant state of war with her family and the world around her, without any creative outlet for her considerable energies save a secret love of hip-hop dance. When she meets her party-girl mother’s charming new boyfriend Connor (Michael Fassbender), she is amazed to find he returns her attention, and believes he might help her start to make sense of her life. A clear-eyed, potent portrait of teenage sexuality and vulnerability, FISH TANK confirms writer/director Andrea Arnold’s status as one of the leading figures of new British cinema.  To view a trailer of the film, click here.

New York Times and Marie Claire critic Caryn James will hold a discussion after the film.

The second film of the series will be on Thursday, January 14th, and will be a screening of CRAZY HEART, starring Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell and Robert Duval.  Subscribe to the series and tickets to this film will be part of the package.  Individual tickets to the event will go on sale shortly.

The Picture House

Several years ago a group of concerned citizens in lower Westchester organized to save the 1920s Pelham Picture House, now listed on the NY State Register of Historic Places, from the wrecking ball. The Picture House, recently restored and renovated, is now an independent film and education center. The Picture House entertains audiences with great movies – indies, foreign films, classics, shorts, animated films and documentaries from around the world. By inviting, actors, directors, producers, screen writers, and film critics to discuss their work, we bring the back lot to our front door.
